Why are surprise events so extraordinary?

Hello friends! We all know surprise events are awesome... but why? For some time I've been trying to clarify what I love so much about surprises.  Yes it's the build up, anticipation, details, lists (who doesn't love a good list?), brainstorming, wow-factor... the shopping... But none of those things entirely explain why I love surprise and not wedding planning.

What makes a surprise event so special? Why do I love sharing my passion for surprise with others? That question kinda led me to the answer.... Because the heart of a surprise is celebrating someone you love. Surprise events are completely planned for someone else. No other type of event is like that.

In all other events, from weddings to corporate parties, your "client" is yourself. What do you like? What do you want to project to people about yourself? What do you want them to think about you? What's your favourite colour? Don't get me wrong I love a good party and all of those events have their place. But in planning a surprise event, your "client" is your surprisee.

Planning a surprise event is heartfelt and selfless. It takes a ton of time and effort, it's stressful, and it can be uncomfortable depending on your deception. Every decision you make is with your loved one's personality and tastes in mind. Each decision is designed to please your surprisee. You might never choose orange for a wedding colour, but you'd certainly plaster your apartment with it if you were planning a surprise party for your guy who loves orange. This is the true magic in a surprise event. It's planned entirely to make someone else feel special and loved.

In other words, the goal of planning a surprise event is to bring joy to someone you love. To show them how much you love and appreciate them. And you know what the great thing about doing that is? It makes you feel amazing too! A surpriser gets joy (and a not insignificant helping of brownie points) simply by giving joy to their surprisee. It's a true win-win.
